About this tour

Walk through the heart of Samarkand with a private guide who speaks your language. See Registan Square, the Bibi-Khanym Mosque, Siab Bazaar and the Shah-i-Zinda necropolis — and hear the stories behind the tiles. The route and the pace are yours.

Highlights

  • Registan — three madrasahs around one square
  • Shah-i-Zinda — a street of blue-tiled mausoleums
  • Bibi-Khanym Mosque and the Siab Bazaar next door
  • Stories told in your language, at your pace

How it works

Good to know

Can I change the route?
Yes. It’s a private tour, so the route and the pace are yours. Want more time at Registan or a tea break at the bazaar? Just tell your guide.
Is it good for children and older travellers?
Yes. The walk is on flat paved streets with places to rest. Shah-i-Zinda has a flight of steps at the entrance — your guide will take it slowly. We can also add a car for the longer stretches.
What should I wear?
Comfortable shoes, a hat and water in summer. Shoulders and knees should be covered inside mosques and at Shah-i-Zinda, which is a place of pilgrimage. A light scarf is useful.
Can we do it in the afternoon or evening?
Yes. Many guests start at 3–4 pm in summer to avoid the heat and finish at Registan when it is lit up after dark.
