Citizens of about 90 countries can visit Uzbekistan without a visa. Most others apply online for an e-visa before the trip. Here is how to check which applies to you.

Do I need a visa?

It depends on your passport. Uzbekistan has a long list of visa-free countries, and the number of days you can stay depends on the country. Rules change from time to time, so check the official sources before you book flights.

Visa-free countries

  • Up to 30 days: citizens of around 90 countries — including all EU countries, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, Norway, Turkey, Japan, South Korea, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia and many more.
  • United States: visa-free for up to 30 days since 1 January 2026.
  • China: visa-free for up to 30 days per visit since 1 June 2025, under an agreement between the two countries.
  • Russia, Kazakhstan, Belarus and other CIS countries: no visa needed.

If your country is not on the list, you can usually get an e-visa online.

How to apply for an e-visa

  1. Apply on the official e-visa portal of Uzbekistan — e-visa.gov.uz. Avoid look-alike sites that charge extra.
  2. Upload a scan of your passport and a photo, then pay the fee online: $20 for a single-entry visa of up to 30 days.
  3. Receive the e-visa by email — most applications are processed within three working days — and keep a printed copy with your passport.

Apply at least a week before your trip, so there is time to fix anything that goes wrong.

Registration after arrival

Foreign visitors must be registered within three days of arriving. Hotels and guesthouses do this for you when you check in — you don’t need to do anything. If you stay with friends or in a private flat, ask us and we’ll tell you how it works.

Seven Lakes tour: crossing into Tajikistan

The Seven Lakes are in Tajikistan. You need a valid passport and, depending on your nationality, a Tajik e-visa from the official portal evisa.tj. Two more things to check:

  • If you need a visa for Uzbekistan, it must allow you to enter again after the day in Tajikistan — a double-entry e-visa costs $35.
  • Visa-free travellers can simply re-enter Uzbekistan the same evening.

Tell us your nationality when you book — we’ll check your case before the trip.
